review 1: I really enjoyed this book. I really liked the concept and the spy-esque feeling it gave. I thought that Raven and Kieran's relationship was a bit one dimensional, although the romantic moments were incredibly cute. I LOVED Joe, and his friendship with Kieran. I also loved the animal-being-your-station thing, like how Kieran in an Owl. I loved that Kieran was pretty much an American Sherlock Holmes in a teenagers body, and I LOVED how badass Raven is as a heroine (despite her Mary Sue name). I loved this book - possibly even more than the Finding Sky series, just because I wasn't constantly on edge with a feeling of intense danger and fear for my favourite characters.
review 2: Somewhere between 2-3 stars for me. I felt incredibly sorry for Raven, the target of
... more bullying, losing her only friend, blamed for things she didn't do and then finds out her new boyfriend is lying to her about everything but can't tell her why. I do understand why he couldn't tell her though. What I don't understand is after she finds out and works with his boss to rescue him he still isn't allowed to contact her until after the boss has considered whether or not she is a suitable candidate. That made no sense. Sure before she knew he couldn't risk blowing his cover but after she already knew why couldn't he see her? I enjoyed Kieran - I usually like overly bright socially inept characters. I find them very entertaining. less
