review 1: This is really somewhere around 3.5 stars, because there were parts that I liked a lot, but then there were parts that were pretty meh. The main plot is good, and interesting, but I wish there had been more focus on the victims; now they felt very superficial characters even though they were supposed to play a big role. The perp wasn't all that interesting in fact, which is weird because religious violence is usually an interesting subject. Mia's storyline was left hanging, I would have liked to get a better look inside her head. The main characters are still strong, but there didn't seem to be much character development apart from Rose and Yrsa. Assad is my favourite of the three, so I would love to know more about him. Maybe in the following books. Adler-Olsen knows how ... moreto write page turners, how to get his readers binge half a book in a day and that's what I would have liked to do despite this not being his strongest novel.
review 2: Poruka u bociZnanje, 2013.Nakon malog zastoja s "Ubojicama fazana", Morck i Assad vraćaju se u igru, napeto loveći nemilosrdnog, vjerski netrpeljivog ucjenjivača-ubojicu po čitavoj Danskoj. A sve počinje s misterioznom, starom i poprilično uništenom porukom u boci. Privatni život glavnih likova nadovezuje se na prijašnja dva romana - Carl razvija svoje odnose s bivšom ženom, s ukućanima, a saznaje i nešto više o Assadu, kao i Rose. Ne sve, postoji još nastavaka za njihov razvitak. Ono što mi se najviše svidjelo je to da se duh Assada, kao stranca s tajnama koji danski ne priča savršeno – vratio. I to sve zahvaljujući povratku vrsnog prevoditelja prvog dijela, "Žene u kavezu". (Svima koji nisu čitali ništa od serijala preporučam da iz lektire izbace drugi prevedeni dio – "Ubojice fazana". Vjerujte, nećete puno propustiti. Što zbog radnje, što zbog prevoditelja.) less
