review 1: "Dying to Meet You: 43 Old Cemetery Road" is the first book in the series. It starts off when Ignatius E. Grumply moves to the Spence mansion to get a peaceful mindset to write his new book. When Ignatius realizes that he has to live with a little boy named Seymour Hope and his cat Shadow. Throughout the book Ignatius has a hard time believing that Olive C. Spence is haunting the house and that she’s Seymour’s friend. This angers Ignatius a lot. Olive tries to haunt her home so Ignatius would move but, it doesn't work out. Throughout the series you’ll see how they develop a friendship and wrote a series.
review 2: Fairly entertaining story of a grouchy, washed-up author getting his comeuppance at the hands of a young teen and a ghost. The device of letters
... more back and forth necessarily means that there's not a lot of character development, but it's pretty entertaining, and makes for a quick read. The sad fact of Seymour's terrible parents' neglect makes him very appealing--I was worried when his ghostly adoptive mother was getting ready to leave him. Klise's puns with names are bad enough to be clever, and the newspaper articles (and the lack of anyone (but the reader) connecting the new items into a cohesive story) are fun. Also included are interesting behind-the-scenes details of the publishing world: deadlines, advances, etc. less
