review 1: I randomly decided to read this one as an audiobook courtesy of my library. Their description, "When Iolanthe Tennyson enters a haunted wood during her stay in Austria, she never expects to be sucked back into the 18th century. Now she's face-to-face with Nikola Czerny, a sensuous vampire living a cursed existence. Iolanthe knows what fate awaits Nikola, and she' ll do anything to save him -- even change the future."The lighthearted style and zany premise made for a quick read. Initially, I actually had no idea that it was the 10th book in a series. I almost wished I had read books 1 -9, but not quite enough to actually go back and do so.
review 2: Sometimes Io's flippant, super-colloquial way of speaking gets a bit too much - especially after she finds herself
... more in the distant past and everybody around her keeps (understandably) misunderstanding her. It makes her come across as juvenile and annoying, on more than one occasion. Who talks like that ALL THE TIME? She can also be rather demanding and surprisingly dense, which is slightly off-putting.Also, her unique gift/talent could've been explained and developed more, to play a more integral part in the story. For my liking, the book is just a bit on the short side. It feels like the story got cut off at a certain point, with numerous stray threads still dangling. I would've loved to read more! less

Waste of time. Repetitive, condescending....
