review 1: Overall, I enjoyed this book immensely. I was almost in tears because I was laughing so hard throughout this book, I'm sure my roommate thought I was nuts. The scenarios are hilarious and awkward. I would also like to note that I typically don't read romances because the sex scenes are always stupid, hokey, and use awkward phrasing that make me question whether the author is secretly a 13 year old girl writing out her idea of what sex is. I think the sex scenes in Ms. MacAlister's books are quite the opposite- funny, awkward, and much more realistic. Nobody is perfect. I liked seeing that Fran had really matured and become more understanding and patient than her teenage self. It was interesting to see how she had changed since we had last seen her in Circus of the Darned. ... moreOne thing I didn't like- the ending. It was jarring, anticlimactic, and left me wondering where the rest of the book had gone because it couldn't possibly already be over. Nothing was resolved except for Fran's relationship with Benedikt. You don't find out who was behind what and why, or anything else. It was a very ambiguous ending, which can work with the right book under the right circumstances, but in this case I feel it was misplaced. I do not read Katie MacAlister's books because the writing is unparalleled because it is not. Her plot lines become predictable quickly and her writing skills are average. I read her books because they almost always make me roll on the floor laughing, which is a wonderful skill in and of itself, and so I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to laugh themselves into tears the entire way through an entertaining read.

AWESOMELY FUN BOOK TO READ THAT I WOULD RECOMMEND FOR ANYONE OVER THE AGE OF 18 TO READ!!!IN THIS BOOK YOU'LL MEET A WICCAN NAMED FRAN, WHO 5 YEARS AGO BROKE UP WITH HER "DARK ONE" VAMPIRE BOYFRIEND BEN IN GERMANY. SHE WASN'T SURE THAT SHE WAS READY TO BE "BOUND" TO THE "DARK ONE" BY LAW AND NOT BY LOVE. YES, SHE WAS IN LOVE WITH BEN, BUT WAS BEN IN LOVE WITH HER???SO, FRAN CAME BACK TO THE STATES TO ATTEND & FINISH COLLEGE AND TO FIND HERSELF. ONE DAY HER ROMMATE IS KIDNAPPED BY LOKI; A TROUBLESOME JOKER OF A GOD. AFTER FRAN RESCUES HER FRIEND, SHE DECIDES THAT SHE'S GOING TO MOVE TO CALIFORNIA TO PURSUE A JOB CAREER WITH HER FATHER JUST AS SOON AS SHE LETS HER MOTHER KNOW. BUT AFTER TRYING TO CONTACT HER MOTHER OVER IN GERMANY SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO ANSWER, FRAN STARTS TO WORRY. THEN HER THREE VIKING GHOSTS FRIENDS SHOW UP ON HER DOORSTEP IN THE FLESH, & TO GERMANY THEY GO!!!WHILE IN GERMANY FRAN & THE VIKINGS RUN INTO SOME OF FRAN'S OLD FRIENDS AT THE GOTHFAIRE, BUT NONE OF THESE FRIENDS KNOW EXACTLY WHERE FRAN'S MOTHER IS. THEY THINK HER MOTHER WENT ON A SHORT VACATION, BUT SHOULD BE BACK BY NOW!!! FRAN RUNS INTO HER EX BEN & BEN'S NEW MYSTERIOUS GIRLFRIEND NAOMI, BUT FRAN STILL HAS FEELINGS FOR BEN. BUT NAOMI SEEMS TO HAVE A "DARK" SIDE TO HER, EVEN "DARKER" THAN BEN'S!!PLUS, BEN'S BLOOD BROTHER DAVID WHO IS A THERION, HAS HAD MEMBERS OF HIS PRIDE MISSING & HE THINKS NAOMI'S RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. READ "IN THE COMPANY OF VAMPIRES" BY KATIE MACALISTER TO FIND OUT WHAT REALLY GOING ON AT THE GOTHFAIRE!!! I DID & I LOVED THE BOOK!!! 5 STARS FROM THIS READER!!!

Disappointing. Kind of a failed payoff in the end. Fran & Ben get together. He does zero work to get her (even tho he has promised to court her.. never happens) but she wuuuvs him & Joins with him. She gets her Mom back and it ends.Lots of loose endings left unanswered. So Fran & Ben get together. Her annoying viking ghosts are still there, Bad guy got away, Loki didn't get banished, her Mother is still glamored into thinking the wrong thing, the Vikingwhatever tool is melted, David is still missing- captured by the bad guy, Naomi got away, and that poor lich servant wasn't freed... The End???Yeah.... So both a Cliffhanger & a HEA but really neither. The book wasn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Continuation of Got Fangs and Circus of the Darned. Takes place 5 years later, when Fran is older.
