review 1: The first time I have given a book in this series 5 stars. It was definitely the best in the series so far, despite having to say goodbye to one of my favorite characters. Rachel has grown a lot in the story from all the others which is a relief as I was starting to believe there was no hope for her to ever grow up and learn from her mistakes. Now I'm definitely looking forward to then second to last installment next year.
review 2: Not a stand-alone title. If you haven't read the others in the series, or even if you haven't read them recently enough to have their events fresh in your mind, the frequently dropped references to previous plotlines will prove useless and ultimately distracting from current events. The close ties of the plot ultimately make this an... more "in-crowd" book. If it's your first trip to the Hollows, try a title earlier in the series. less
