review 1: Too many inconsistencies for me. Genius girl with ho-hum average parents? The Spectrum IQ test--reworked classic puzzles instead of self-defense skills or managing dangerous situations or knowing different languages or disabling bombs? Girl who lies and steals? How genius is that? Radio walkie talkies? (what about smartphones?) Was the setting in the 1980's or something? Answering machines?Newpaper clippings?

Ruby Redfor
... moret ~ Look into My Eyes is a fiction book with mystery and adventure. As a quirky and independent 13 year old special agent Ruby Redfort is working for a secret organisation, called Spectrum and living the best of both worlds. She has to attend school, like most children her age, but usually manages to avoid class with the assistance of her butler and co-working secret agent, Hitch, in order to go and solve mysteries, stop crime and catch evil villains. After keeping her secret life quiet for a while, Ruby must choose what is more important, friendship or her dream life as a code cracking, secret agent. Ruby Redfort is a rather intellectual and fearless 13 year old girl who lives a secret life as a special agent. She has always wanted to be a code cracker and field agent, ever since she was a little girl. But now that she has reached that stage, she learns that there are many more responsibilities that she must follow through with, including keeping her secret agent ‘life’ from her best friend, Clancy Crew, whom she normally tells everything to. She is a very lively and adventurous character and everybody who reads this series will fall in love with her. Many young readers may find this book too scary, although it is a fiction book. It contains a few scenes of violence at the very end of the book. Hence the fact that it would fall into the mystery genre, Ruby Redfort ~ Look into My Eyes includes villains, minor blood scenes and the use of guns and it may only be suitable for children who understand that it is just fiction. Other than the violence, Ruby Redfort ~ Look into My Eyes is filled with cliff hanging moments, is action packed and fun filled and has multiple life lessons. It is rather slow to start off with and that may turn people away from this book but after the first few chapters Ruby Redfort ~ Look into My Eyes starts to reel you in and before long you cannot put it down.Overall, Ruby Redfort ~ Look into My Eyes is a very creative and amusing book and if you are looking for heaps of adventure, fun and mystery this book will be sure to reach your expectations. It is a great book for parents to read with children or for children to read out loud as it will expand the reader’s vocabulary, some of which parents may need to help with. Highly recommended, for ages 9 to 15 as it contains a few scenes with kidnaping, the use of guns and violence. less
