review 1: Ok, I admit, I rated this a little low. But, I do not think it is as good as the first novel, and I gave that a 4. Here's why:In this novel, some of our characters continue to grow. On the other hand, I lose sight of a lot of our secondary characters in any way that matters. I feel like I know what they are doing, but don't feel invested in them at all. I just didn't care. Flo is still great, but the relationship between Flo and Frank is super questionable - it jumped ahead in places that had me raising my eyebrows and it stagnated in even stranger ways. Frank begins to transition from nice guy to alpha male, and yet when Flo is faced with a dangerous situation (don't want to spoil here, but let's just say it's a consistently dangerous situation, day after day) he does not... morehing, pretty much. I just struggled to feel as though I was living things with them because of this. The use of myth is still great, unique, fresh, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I don't feel like Flo is very active in the climaxes of her own novels, however, and I find myself much less driven to pick up the next book in the series. For me, this was good, and that's it.
review 2: Yes!! Managed to finish it in record time, mainly by munching on apple slices, ignoring the clock, listening to a mixture of Taylor Swift, Green Day and Train and gluing myself to my chair. In less than six hours I have finished reading a rollercoaster-ride of a book that had me smiling, laughing, tearing up and face-palming continuously :DA full review will be up ASAP - hopefully tomorrow!
