review 1: I lived in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba during the revolution, and the beginning of the book started in 1958. We could hear and see the gunfire between Batista and Castro's rebels from our home, but always felt safe being on a US Naval Base. The New Year when Castro took over and there was so much celebration, even by the Americans on base. Havana Lost took me back to a time in my life when I lived on a beautiful island and enjoyed all the amenities of a tropical paradise.
