review 1: what happened? this book was SO MUCH better than the first!the writing style is the same and it still buggs me a lot. However, this time I could actually follow the story (which wasn't that easy with the first book). It actually suprised me in what direction the story of this book goes.. that was really unexpected. And it was quite interesting! What I really liked about this book, is that we finally get to know some more information about dreamcatchers. But Janie as a character is just so...annoying? I can't relate to her and I think she's a weak character. She's going through a lot and has to face challenges, I know, but what she's expecting from Carl is really egoistic.. she always needs someone to protect her, to look after her.. but at the same time she thinks of herself... more as a tough girl who does not need to be protected, which is really contradicting. Also, I read other reviews saying that this book is written really emotionally, which I don't think is the case. To me it feels very exaggerated.I like Captain and Carl(which in the english version is Cable..why did they change the name in the first place??) a lot. But Janie.. It's always difficult reading a bookseries if you don't like the main protagonist. However, I was really suprised that this book turned out to be so much better and I'm actually excited to see how this ends.
review 2: In terms of writing style, this was a lot better than the first book. The author finally discovers complex sentences, despite still having tendencies towards short, abrupt sentences. In terms of the plot, despite the perp being already too obvious from the beginning, I'm glad to find that the ending was not so predictable as it was in Wake. I'd have given this somewhere in between 3 and 4 stars, but I'll go with 4 to include bonus points for the much needed improvement. less

This series is amazing, and I could not put these books down. Cabel and Jane have captured me.

Too similar to Wake... Should have just been one book, don't force me to read your trilogy!
