review 1: 2,5 out of 5,0 starsJanie and Cabel are working undercover at their highschool to try and apprehend a sexual predator who's causing nightmares among students. While struggling with her powers and their consequences Janie also needs to make decisions that will change her life.I felt that this book was really different from the first one. The plot - though as simplistic as before - centers on the investigation of the sexual predator. Sadly the story just isn't cut out for a full-fledged criminal novel so I hoped there would be more paranormal worldbuilding/background/depth. No such luck.Although in the end some new information on dream catchers is revealed and gave the story some spice the topic just fell short in my opinion.Another issue that remained for me was the w... moreirting. Although it improved somewhat it still seems too choppy and loose for my taste. What disappointed me most in the two books I read so far is that I expected so much of the opportunity that "dream exploration" would give a main character. I feel like it's way too easy for Jeanie to find the answers she's looking for in dreams (for example the hiding spot of the drugs in book one) and doesn't really have to work out some psychological aspects/interact at all with the people. Although Janie had some character development going on, I still couldn't connect with her.I will be reading the conclusion to the series to see how the author will do rounding it all up. My hopes aren't too high though and I don't think this will be a very memorable series to me.
review 2: SOME NIGHTMARES NEVER END.Janie and Cabel just want some (secret) time together. But real life is getting harder than the dreams. They have no luck in trying to see each other in their undercover lives. At Fieldridge High things are getting even more disgusting than before but nobody will spill. Then Janie taps into a classmates terrible nightmare and they finally have a clue. But the plan crumbles and Janie gets in way over her head. Plus Cabe is acting strange and that can have major consequences. To add to her plate Janie discovers more about her ability and its pretty bleak. Seriously, terrifyingly bleak. Her fate is sealed and the worse part hasn't even begun. less
