review 1: This book follows Rachel Penny, who has recently finished a very bitter divorce battle. Her favorite aunt dies and she has to go out to the small mountain town that her aunt lived in for the reading of the will. There she meets Burke Chastell, a tough mountain man. The two are instantly attracted to each other, though Rachel is unimpressed by his attitude when they first meet. Rachel soon learns that the whole town is made of shifters and she now holds a very important role for them.I would classify this book as much closer to erotica than romance. There's plenty of steamy scenes, including a foursome. Those parts were very good. However, the plot of the book was strongly underdeveloped. It started out all right, but about halfway through it felt like the author went... more, "Oh, this is taking too long. Let's jump to the good stuff". The end result is that the reason for the foursome winds up feeling flimsy and forced. Additionally the ending of the book was very rushed and didn't really match the build-up from the beginning of the book. If you don't mind flimsy plot with your sex scenes, you'll like this book. As for me, I like a stronger plot to advance the romance and just found it ok.
review 2: Thought this would have lots of action but the only action worthy of my attention was the one between the sheets. Can't say I didn't like reading that foursome although I didn't exactly understood the need to have one for her to be marked and shift. Kind of got my hopes up for a relationship between them all...what can I say? I thrive on weird. I did nevertheless liked seeing her with Burke. They were sweet even despite all those alpha pheromones making him act all possessive and jealous which I wasn't very fond of. Overall it was enjoyable but not much to look at. less
