review 1: Just absolutely loved the book. Mariah Clarke one night basically wishes that someone or something will help her. She hears her grandma voice telling her to go to the sea and what does she find but a half drowned man. She's able to get him back to the house and when he comes to with amnesia she let's him know he is her husband Adam. She hates to lie but says she will tell him the truth eventually. Well come to find out Adam is actually Adam but also a Duke and his friends have been either looking for him or his dead body!! Someone is trying to kill him. You have mystery, intrigue, passion, murder attempts all wrapped up in one great read!!! You will love this book!!
review 2: This is the first Mary Jo Putney book I've read (or more accurately, listened to) and
... moreI was very surprised and impressed at the complexity of the story. I'm used to story being a distant second to the sex and does he/she love me? stuff, but this was a nice balance. I enjoyed both main characters and am very much looking forward to finding out how the rest of the 'lost lords' and the various women introduced in this book get together or don't. I'd like to get to know Lady Agnes a bit better, and I think there's definitely the chance of that since there are 5 more books already published. In all, a fun summer read/listen. less

Pretty weak. Surprising since I think I've read something of Putney's before that I liked.

Rippping good yarn. Occasionally hard to suspend my disbelief, but tremendous good fun.
