review 1: Joey and Stewart What a beautiful story of how these two came to be.Joey and Stewart (aka Papa) are the Matriarch and Patriarch of the Santini Family. This story takes you back to the beginning of these two meeting. Joey was working in a bar and an art store to save money so that she could enroll into Art School. She worked for Sam and Thelma who were like her surrogate parents, this particular evening walks in several Marines including Stewart when Joey walks over to take their orders he became tongue tied. So the great Santini curse that is spoken about in the family that the younger Santini generation refused to believe in struck Stewart right in the heart. The moment when he knew without a shadow of a doubt, here stands the very woman he will spend the rest of his life... more with. Too bad Joey didn't share his sentiments (in the beginning that is).Joey is an artist, quiet and focused. Her parents are missionaries and she didn't want to follow in their footsteps much to their chagrin. But Joey also had an awful secret (I will not reveal what it is just in case people are reading the review but haven't read the book). So working, keeping to herself and loving her surrogate parents Joey was content. But what Joey didn't realize that once a Santini sees the woman that is just for him, that man will not go away until she becomes his forever. This is a novella which was fine (I honestly love reading about older couples too which there are not that many books on them. That needs to change just because your older doesn't mean you are not still in love 40 years later). I appreciate these stories and although I am younger I would want to still be in love with my husband all those years later just the same. It was a wonderful story and the author even posted a couple of pages from the book that started it all "Leonardo (The Santinis Book 1). So if you are looking to read a wonderful story of love then look no further and download this book at once.Well Until My Next Review Ciao Bellas!
review 2: Melissa Schroeder just knows how to write stories that make your heart melt. This short story takes the reader back in time to when Papa first met Joey and how their courtship began.Papa (Stewart) was just as charming and honorable as his sons. Now, I can see where all the Santini brothers got their charm from...none other than their father. Joey was wonderful. Her character was vivacious and strong. Papa and Joey were a wonderful match and their story was super sweet.I have read & loved every installment of The Santini series and this one was no exception. Readers looking for satisfying romance stories filled with loveable characters look no further than Melissa Schroeder. She always delivers! less
