review 1: I have to start out saying that this book is not perfectly edited, but for me when a story is really good, I barely notice it. Mercy Celeste writes really good stories. I always feel so much for her characters. When I read her books, I am transported into the story, the pain that many of them feel seeps into me and I am not just a reader anymore. I am the brothers who try to fight their love for each other. I am a football player who thought he lost his boyfriend overseas. In this book I was transported into the world of Nathan a cop who spent most of his time in denial, or waiting for the man he loved to leave. Until he was kidnapped and unspeakable horrors were done to him. Quinn, a country star with a checkered past who once loved Nathan and his heart was broken when th... moree man ran away from him and his own feelings. Even though the men went through painful moments, they did find their way to each other, and a wonderful ending.
review 2: I expected better. The end was pretty disappointing. It lacked a certain poignancy and overall the execution really didn't live up to what I had hoped for. In fact, the violence displayed throughout the whole novel appears to be just a shock factor and not really part of it all. I gotta say I'm not a fan of violence in my novels, no matter the reason, but I do understand when it's so in tune with the story you can't help but appreciate it and love it all the same. That wasn't the case here. It was used just as a means to lure my sympathy and, in fact, did the exact opposite. Just the same with how Quinn's addictive personality was displayed. I didn't hate them but I didn't love them either. Both circumstances made both characters hard as hell to understand and connect with and I just couldn't do it. By the time the end rolled in...I didn't care about any of them or their situation at all.One star added solely for the originality factor. Execution barely deserves the other two remaining stars and I actually feel guilty over giving them. less

Damn this was heart wrenching. Not the easies to follow but a sexy, good read nonetheless.
