review 1: When I see Duncan Fregredo's name on something I expect pretty epic stuff now thanks to this and Darkness Calls. Fregredo continues to emulate Mignola while at the same time making everything bigger and louder. Mignola himself is doing his best work on an overall arc here in my opinion. He has proven that he is more than exceptional with both short and long stories here. Lots of gasp worthy twist and turns here and it feels like Hellboy has been using his power to his full potential a lot more often. His limits are being stretched and it is hella fun to watch (as is the artwork). I really cannot get enough of these books.
review 2: *2nd reading*Normally, I would downgrade this volume for not being drawn by Mike Mignola, but its frankly too awesome to do so. The
... more incorporation of Arthurian mythology into the Hellboy mythos (in a very personal way) fleshes both the character and his world out considerably. There's a certain Dickensian quality to they way in which so many previous plot threads are woven into a coherent whole here. Furthermore, the fight between Hellboy and the Steampunk demon on the bridge was just badass 得不得了. less

Hellboy has been kind of random, though this volume seems to be tying them together.
