review 1: The book was a great addition to the series. Alex has clearly learned more about wizardry and has gone through many hard times even though he is the powerful wizard he is now. The Sands of Nezza has included more mischievous people and villains into the series, but I suspect that all of that will be cleared up in future novels. Alex in this book has gained many new friends but still seems distant from his potential. Whalen, Alex's teacher says that Alex has surpassed him in skill and wisdom. According to the text, "'I, however, know that you are greater than I, and in time you will know it as well.'" (464) Whalen now looks up to Alex and, while still teaching him certain things, will look upon Alex for reference, an exemplar and one to learn from. I hope future books will ... morebe as good as this one. ⭐️
review 2: This book was a nice addition to the Adventurers Wanted series, however, it did not meet all of my expectations. Instead of the storytelling/writing improving in this book, it seems to have plateaued; the writing was more simple, and the plotline seemed to be too vague and lightly brushed over, like the characters went from place to place without really doing that much at each place. On a different note, I think that M. L. Forman did grow Alex's (the main character) character and personality rather well; he seemed more confident in himself, and more mature. All in all, this book was not my favorite in the series, but it was still pretty good. less
