review 1: A fourteen year old Enola Holmes is the main character in this mystery involving Florence Nightingale and secret messages left over from the Crimean War. Enola's mother has disappeared and she is hiding from her more famous brothers (Shylock and Mycroft) who want to send her to a finishing school. Even if the criminal's motives were dubious, Enola was funny and resourceful, living in London and using many disguises. The story was also read in a wondrous English accent.
review 2: An audiobook experience is the only way I would have ever read this book. Enola Holmes, 14, is the sister of Sherlock Holmes. Enola has ran away from home and on her own solves mysteries just like her brother. The concept is cute and the narration and audio kept me interested, but there... more really wasn't much depth to the mystery and it was over too fast after so much build up. Interesting the first time, but probably won't read another in the series. less
