review 1: I was enjoying this series a lot... and then these last two books happened. This one got devoured in a couple of hours I really should have spent studying, and landed me close to tears a couple of times (Miranda!), as well as grinning at the perfection of the way certain things worked out (Miranda again! Eli!). The only way this could have been better is if we'd got more than a few hints of the potential romances over the 5 books, but then again the characters had things to do much more important than smooching, so it's very easily forgiven.
review 2: Five books and finally Eli got interesting. But don't let that stop you from reading this series. The story line is imaginative and filled with adventure. There are four main characters and sub characters that sur... moreround them. Each is unique and magical in his or her own way. Eli, the main protagonist, was the lease interesting until the final book. But the others more than make up for his lack of depth. And the story is so original and intriguing that it's hard to put down. This is a must read for lovers of fantasy. less
