review 1: My feelings towards the characters. Update as I read. Please tell me about your feelings towards the characters!Himena: Is Elsa's nanny and guardian. Former scribe and trained to kill. I have started to dislike this character. I really loves her in the start of the series. But the character makes me uneasy and it's been creeping up on me more and more how I just don't trust her. I'm almost finished with The Crown of Embers (book 2). Himena is away with decoy Queen Elsa. So I probably won't read any more about her. But I hope she comes back to change my mind about her. Actually no. I don't trust her. Keep her away from Elsa!Update after finishing The Crown of Embers: I'm so happy with what happens with Himena! What a ignorant woman she is. I wonder if I meet her again in th... moree last book..King Alejandro: King of Joya d'Arena. Father of Prince Rosario. Widowed. Marries Elsa in the first book for troops (could just likely be for a heard of goats) Status: dead. Yay!I liked him, a little. I kept changing my mind about him. Hoping he would do something to prove himself. But he didn't. The fact that he sacrificed himself for Elsa in the end is not enough for me. And I feel it was out of character for him to do so. When I try to accept his sacrifice, I start to dislike him. I'm happy he died.
review 2: This trilogy would be great for readers who are just getting into fantasy. The first book gives us the character descriptions, the world building and some action. This second one gives us the action, the relationships and so much excitement. Elisa, the main character is such a honest and strong heroine! Hector is....Hector ( you've got to read this to understand). If you love reading about characters, this trilogy is for you. less
