review 1: Queen Elisa starts off on a rescue mission to save the man she loves. She also ends up saving a slave girl along the way. They discover that the girl is of mixed blood, which Elisa did not know was possible. This leads Elisa to question her people and the Invierno's origin. Elisa's journey takes her to the heart of enemy territory. Storm, her Inferno ambassador, must come face to face with his family. His loyalty is put to the test as we find out what the Invierno want with Elisa. In Rae Carson's book, I enjoy how her characters seem to have their own story arcs and are given chances to grow. New characters are introduced in this third instalment of the Fire and Thorns trilogy, there are unexpected twists which take the story into unpredictable directions but everything co... moremes together for a satisfactory conclusion.
review 2: IMO, this trilogy is reminiscence of the Study series by Maria V. Snyder. It is an entertaining, engaging high fantasy with a kick ass female protagonist. The first two books i flew through, but i did stall a bit whilst reading the last one. For me personally, not a lot happened for me to warrant it a full five stars, more 4.5 rounded up. My favourite character is Belén. I don't know why, there really isn't any factor for why this is so. Maybe because he's so loyal and awesome and not unlike Valek. For some reason, you just without a doubt know that he isn't going to die purely because for his awesomeness. =.=Overall a great series, would i say it's my favourite? It's up there, but for me, the third book kind of brought it down a notch. Some people might disagree, but hey, everyone's entitled to their opinions. =~= less
