review 1: I really, really enjoyed this trilogy (but yikes, I'm glad I waited for the third one to be out before reading the second). It's well-crafted, full of wonderful characters, and overflowing with magic. The world building is superb, and the tidy but still somehow believable ending was exactly what I needed after so much adventure and heartache. But something about it keeps me from a perfect five stars. I'm not sure what it is; perhaps I'll change my mind the next time through. If you like high fantasy (especially Tamora Pierce), stories where things aren't always what they seem, and heroes and heroines who aren't afraid to tackle the big questions, I highly recommend the entire Fire and Thorns trilogy.
review 2: The first third of this book was trying to chase do
... morewn and rescue someone. That part just bored me. I'm not a big fan of adventure books. It finally got good and then they spent way to much time getting back home. Of course they had to go through claustrophobic caves to get there. I'm not a big fan of claustrophobic situations either. There was also pre martial sex so I can't recommend it. This book was just ok which is sad because I liked the first two in the series. less

I wasn't sure about the first book of the trilogy, but it improved as the character grew.
