review 1: Jimmy is one of my most favorite character, and so I was expecting quite a lot from this book. I was somehow desappointed. It's too short. This story could be easily twice his size as Feist had picked not only the most important pieces of the story out, but the story really did let live instead of just telling a story because it have to be told.It seemed like something contrived because it went to a closed trilogy. Some opinions of character are suddenly changed to improve the plot. It's not the usual level of Feist, but it is not a bad book. The characters remain good and the end is simply amazing (altough abruptly). So I would still recommend reading other books from Feist, They’re better, but as a fan of Jimmy, this is a must-read.
review 2: It's nice seeing
... more Jimmy the Hand when he's little - he was my favourite character from the Magician series, I had such a crush on him.Very short story. The ending was a little too hasty for my liking, pretty sure it could not have been tied up nearly so neatly. But at the same time, by god was it *nice* to not have everything be doom and gloom even when it is dark and unhappy circumstances - sick of the only realism in stories being their description of torture and misery. less

A good and quick read from Feist. As difficult as it was to find a copy, it was a little worth it.

A bit short for my taste. Decent story though.
