Hello!
I figured I would kickstart this website with a short web drama review that I have recently had my eye on. Hence, I’m bringing to you, Longing Heart/My First Love (애간장 Aeganjang), an 8 episode-long fantasy and romance drama by OCN.
This short and sweet drama is starring CNBLUE‘s Lee Jung Shin as Kang Shin Woo (aged 28), School 2017‘s Seo Ji Hoon as Kang Shin Woo Jr. (aged 18) and Divorce Lawyer in Love‘s Lee Yeol-Eum as Han Ji Soo. To be honest, it was news that CNBLUE’s Lee Jung Shin would be playing lead male that first attracted me to check out this brand new drama. After all, I’ve been a fan of CNBLUE’s music for awhile and have enjoyed several acting projects by the various members from leader Jung Yong Hwa‘s old popular ones such as You’re Beautiful and Heartstrings to more recent ones by guitarist Lee Jong Hyun, Orange Marmalade, as well as Lee Jung Shin’s supporting role in Cinderella and Four Knights. As for the other actor and actress, I haven’t seen any of their other projects so I don’t know much about them.
Alright, I know I have mentioned quite a few different dramas in that one long sentence and have diverted a little. Let’s get back to the main topic and jump into the plot summary.
Longing Heart is yet another drama with a time-slip element with our lead male travelling 10 years back in time with a second chance at pursuing his first love, whom he had failed to gather the courage to confess to back then. This time, Shin Woo is armed with the knowledge that his first love likes him back too and is determined not to have any regrets. However, here comes the twist — Shin Woo has a competitor: his 18 year old self from 10 years ago. Hence, an interesting rivalry between the 2 Shin Woos and a intriguing love triangle is formed.
I’ve watched my fair share of time travelling dramas and honestly, I am a little sick of it. It was a refreshing idea when first introduced, but after so many overcomplicated plotlines and loose ends untied at the end of the show, I’ve lost quite a bit of faith in these kinds of storylines. But, I must say that the fact that the lead male himself is his own competitor is a pretty cute concept and I’m intrigued enough to start watching. I’ve always been a sucker for the 2nd male lead, perhaps this will rid me of my pain since I get to support the 2nd male lead and male lead at the same time?
Though if there’s one thing I’m confused as of now, it has to be the fact that 10 years isn’t long enough of time for the male lead to look so completely different than his younger self and the girl can’t even recognise him. I doubt people change THAT much from 18 to 28. But I can’t exactly complain either because while I jumped on the bandwagon thanks to Lee Jung Shin, the trailers have made me realised that Seo Ji Hoon is absolutely good-looking. Maybe more to my taste than Lee Jung Shin, if I may say so haha (don’t kill me). So who am I to say that 2 stunning male leads is a bad idea?
Well, that’s about it for my pre-drama post. Without further ado, let me bless you with pictures of our main characters.
Until next time,
