By far the easiest of the four to write, Episode 1, or as I have titled it, A Disturbance, truly sets up the season. This episode’s prime intention is solely to set up what is to come. This episode acts as an introduction to each beloved character, and sets the scene for what is happening in the Republic. What’s the past becomes known but what the future holds remains a mystery. So, without any further hesitation, here is the opening page of A Disturbance.
Something isn’t right in the galaxy, and the series hits the ground running. This scene was actually a late edition to the script. I had started with another sequence, but I decided a few weeks after I finished this episode that opening with a different scene would make for a better experience for the viewer. I kept the original opening scene, but came to the realization that viewers would be a little lost if I kept it the way it was.
Something I also introduced in this episode are flashbacks. I started off with this idea with the intention to start and end them in this episode alone. Once I started writing, however, I realized that utilizing them to show what happened to Revan in the past might satisfy the desires of some to watch Darth Revan. Taking heed of Arrow‘s issues with flashbacks, not every episode has them, and each flashback is necessary in order to tell the story properly. Each flashback in some way directly correlates what is going on in the present time. I have also tried to limit the amount of flashbacks so the audience isn’t completely distracted by them and not focusing on the stories of modern times. If you’re a little unsure, think of Stranger Things and the way the Duffer brothers utilize flashbacks.
The gang of beloved heroes, for the most part, is reunited in A Disturbance as well. As seen in the above interaction, quite a while has gone by without the group seeing one another, but they still remember that they are all old friends. Mission Vao and Zaalbar have been up to quite a lot while remaining the best of friends throughout their adventures. Canderous is still the tough mercenary fans were introduced to in the original game.
I took the chemistry between the entire group from that of myself and my friends. Being one of the two farthest away from home, I took inspiration from how we all interact when we see one another or just talk. If we haven’t talked in a while, we pick up right where we left off as if it were only a day before that we saw one another. So, when the group does meet up, its almost exactly like that.
As for Canderous and Revan, the two both live on Coruscant, but seem to have not seen each other in a while at the start of the series. Yet, they, just like the others, act as if it had only been a day or two they hadn’t been in contact. As for the interactions between Revan and Bastila, Revan and the droids, and the two droids, I prefer to keep those to myself.
I know I also said I would provide a summary of the episode so far, so here it goes:
The Jedi Knight Revan senses within the Force some very deadly changes that resonate with his past life as Darth Revan. With his memories still missing, however, Revan sets out on an adventure with his friends and fellow Jedi to identify the threat. Some Jedi, however, refuse to believe that Revan is truly reformed, and begin making waves of their own throughout the Order and the galaxy.
I know it is short, but honestly, I’ve never written a synopsis before. I know any fan would love the episode, but I don’t want to give too much away. I actually feel like I already have given some information away in this article, but all well. Life goes on. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this, and are getting somewhat excited to know more about this project. If you would love to see this series come to fruition, please share anywhere and everywhere you can! The more views the better chances we have of this becoming reality.
