A couple weeks ago, I posted my Top 10 Cop Movies list, which was…. controversial to say the least, especially among fellow cops. A big point of contention was me leaving off some of the great Federal Agent movies out there. Well, those movies deserved their own list. Because I love to make things complicated, I’m splitting the atom a little further. CIA movies and those similar to that are not included and will be on their own list sometime next week. Here’s this list. As always, this is my opinion and my personal favorites. Feel free to leave a comment with your picks:
10. Point Break
Let’s start off the list with a little bit of fun. While not an objectively great movie, who doesn’t like this 90s action movie featuring a FBI agent who goes undercover in a surfer gang.
9. In the Line of Fire
A movie I don’t hear enough people talk about. It’s an underrated Secret Service flick with one of the better Clint Eastwood performances.
8. The Kingdom
Before I started the list, I thought this one would be higher. I thoroughly enjoy this entertaining FBI counter-terrorism movie. The rest of the list just contain movies that are a little better.
7. The Fugitive
No need for explanation here. This movie ends up on a lot of lists from 90s movies to Harrison Ford movies to Tommy Lee Jones movies to now, a Federal Agent movies list.
6. The Untouchables
Want to know how they put Al Capone in prison? Well this might not be the most historically accurate answer, but it is the most entertaining one.
5. Donnie Brasco
Johnny Depp before he becomes a caricature of himself? Check. One of the best mob movies ever? Check. And now, number 5 on this list.
4. The Town
I got a lot of… heat… for not including Heat on my cop movies list. While I don’t think that movie focuses on the cops enough, this one does feature a decent amount of Jon Hamm’s team of FBI agents as they try and track down Ben Affleck’s gang of bank robbers. And yes I do hate myself for that terrible joke.
3. Catch Me If You Can
Steven Spielberg directs Tom Hanks and Leo DiCaprio in a very entertaining battle of wits.
2. Sicario
I really wanted to put this at number one. I love this movie. From the acting and directing, to the cinematography and the action. It all comes together in an incredible film.
1. Silence of the Lambs
It may not be original, as this would be found at the top of most lists like this. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t worthy of its spot. Anyone that has never seen it, or hasn’t seen it in a while, needs to watch it.
Honorable Mentions: Unthinkable, The Punisher (2004), The Sentinel, Breach, The Rock, Face/Off, Imperium
