review 1: This was a great storyline! This was all about zombies, murder and mayhem! All of the chaos and fighting was well worth the wait! I thought I wanted a fast resolution to keep the story moving to see the people start to build a utopian society, but this was edgy and raw. The reader got a chance to see the true character of the people who entered the war. Michonne will always be number 1 in my all time favorite kick ass heroines, but I'm getting really attached to the man they call Jesus (not Hispanic Jesus) but the biblical Jesus. :). He gives Rick that boost of confidence that Rick needs to lead the people. This volume was nothing but blood, guts and revenge and it was awesome. This is why I fell in love with the series. Can't wait for part 2 of this... more war.
review 2: I have enjoyed this series, and will most likely read every installment as it becomes available as a collection; but I worry that it's just becoming, "Let's see how badly we can mess with Rick before he completely breaks." Maybe it's just the selections I've been making lately, but I feel like if there's ever a zombie apocalypse, we're in more danger from other humans than we are from the zombies. And I have to think (or at least hope) that isn't how it would go down. I was intrigued by the subtle implications throughout this particular volume that the protagonists have perhaps started to tip over into being the evil that they are trying to prevent, and the antagonist may not be as evil as he is perceived to be. I kind of hope that will be developed into a stronger thread - it could give the entire series an interesting spin. less
