review 1: Almost a four. A mother of an 8 year old boy and a 16 year old girl runs into a burning building to rescue her daughter. They are both rescued but in serious condition. The fire was not an accident. The mother and daughter become spirits overlooking the race to find who set the fire. Once I was able to get over the spirit thing, I really enjoyed the book and I loved the ending. Nothing predictable and worth reading.
review 2: Draak van een boek. Melodramatisch, sentimenteel verhaal met een totaal ongeloofwaardige plot. De schrijfstijl zorgde ervoor dat ik regelmatig de draad kwijt was. De hoofdpersoon richt zich constant direct tot haar echtgenoot, die haar niet kan horen, maar ook tot haar dochter, die haar wel kan horen daar moeder en dochter zich beiden in e... moreen comateuze toestand bevinden en zich vrijelijk kunnen bewegen. Soms is niet duidelijk tegen wie de ik-figuur het nu heeft. Het verhaal verplaatst zich steeds van de ene ziekenhuiskamer naar de andere, soms even buiten het ziekenhuis. Veel herhaling van zetten. Weinig actie, veel dialoog, weinig diepgang. Niet mijn ding, maar ik ben dan ook geen thrillerlezer. Had dit boek voor mijn verjaardag gekregen, dus vandaar.... less
