review 1: The graphic novel, Adventure Time Volume 5, by Pendleton Ward is a fast-paced book that is based on the Cartoon Network series. It involves Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, and Marceline (the vampire princess). Bubblegum and Marceline are forced to retreat into a "Science Prison" where tainted bubblegum (the candy this time) is spreading and infecting others. Finn and Jake attempt to help them, but only to get infected. With the inhabitants of Candy Kingdom all sick, the kingdom is ripe for domination by the antagonists. Princess Bubblegum, a science genius, uses her skills to help save the kingdom. Lemongrab assists by using his tart tastes to repel the bubblegum, and after a short 72 pages, Candy Kingdom was saved, and all was swell. This book was great for fans of the se... moreries, comic book/graphic novel junkies, and 6-10 year olds. The artwork is great, but a prior understanding of the show, from the kingdoms to the main characters, is required for proper understanding. Also, it is pricey, costing $14.99 in the US, although it could be worth its value for true fans of the show.This book is a great hand-me-down book for youngsters, and is exceptional in terms of artwork. I would rate it 4 stars, because of its dependency of knowing the story lines and characters, but if you’re a fan, then I’d give it 5 stars.
