review 1: Intregingly crafted, emotionally fullfilling and pleasing to read. Sandra Dallas gives us a peek into the lives of people living in a small mining town in the early 1900's in Colorado's Rocky Mountains plus transports us into our own lives through the events in the book.Personally, I was taken by the unwitting similarity between character Grace and a real life novelest Mary Hallock Foote. I even asked Sandra if she based the character on Foote. Sandra graciously replied assuring me that she modeled the character after no one in particular. Uncanny coincedence, I thought.
review 2: I love this author! Even though she uses the same backdrop for most if her books I don't have the same reaction I have to some other popular authors who seem to write to their same o
... moreld formula every time. I loved how each chapter told the story of one person and it wasn't until 6 chapters in their interacted with everyone. Also knowing the tragic outcome from the beginning added to my involvement as a reader. I knew I was investing into something tragic as I grew to love the characters. Sad but redeeming story. less
