review 1: While it's interesting to see Jared from an outside perspective, it's not as good because it lacks the interaction between Kami and Jared that made me love the Lynburn Legacy series so much. Because the narrator is distanced from Jared the story reads a bit distanced and I'm actually glad that I learned about the short stories in this series after I read the books because I don't think I would have been as excited about reading The Lynburn Legacy Trilogy if I had read the connected short stories first.
review 2: I thought this was a pretty good story. It lacked the humor of the first full book, but I think that's becau. se it was Kami I was enjoying. I'm not sure I buy that Jared would talk to anyone about Kami, and he seemed much less likeable here, even bein
... moreg overly protective of a teacher for some unknown reason. The overused image of the rainy night in a bad neighborhood with a dead cell battery bothered me. Why not just go back in and use the phone in the office? And was there no library or internet to look up information on Jared's family and the supposed murder? I was hoping this was going to be from the viewpoint inside of Jared's head. But I love the characters and the chance to read more about them will keep me coming back. less

I liked this short story - it gave some further insight into Jared and left me dying for more!

I probably would have liked this better if I had read it immediately after the first one.
