review 1: You know the cartoon gimmick where a character is trying to outrun a giant snowball and they end up getting rolled up as the thing picks up speed? Yeah, that was this book. I honestly picked this up last night with the intention of reading the first section, you know, a couple of chapters. A couple hours later I had finished the whole thing. I couldn't put it down, not that I wanted to of course, but you know, sleep equals decent functioning in real life and… who needs sleep anyway? With the foundations that were laid in Unspoken and using that as a springboard, Brennan dives into a plot line packed with details, mysteries, more of that lush setting I adore, and character drama and development. It was wonderful, it never lacked for action and I am going to pick up the th... moreird one immediately. I don’t know what else to say, even to myself. I don’t often rate the second book higher than the first but in this case, yes, yes I will.
review 2: Torn between one and two stars because I really didn't think very much of this book. I really liked the first one but this one is just...I don't really have a word for it. Boring, I guess. Essentially nothing happens in it, it's very much the middle of the trilogy, the way in which we get from book one to book three. I'm still going to read book three, but with much lower expectations than I had for this one. less
