review 1: If you are reading a Seanan McGuire book and you meet a mysterious woman with pale white skin and dark black hair, run the eff away because she is evil. (Unless you are reading Indexing, in which case you should run away, but not because she's evil, just because you could be collateral damage.) This story was a bit predictable--of course we knew why the whole town was taken, of course we did--but it fit so neatly and wonderfully into the series as a whole, and emotionally it did just what it needed to do.

We also see how the Healy family found out about Cuckoos, which of course is very important later on in the series with cousin Sarah and the adopted Grandmother. We also see Mary, whom we've heard about in the future books as well. I hope McGuire keeps giving us more little tidbits to fill in the gaps of how everything happened to get the Price family where they are in the current books. less
