review 1: In her acknowledgements, the author started off by saying that "writing this book broke her mind into a million tiny pieces". Well, reading this book blew my mind away into a million tiny pieces. Like Sophie, I feel my mind being controlled by the way the author crafted the story. It starts with a mild intrigue, enough to make me willing to go along with it, like the way The Black Swan was guiding her. Then the springs start winding, increasing the tension and suspense until there is no way out other than turning the pages until the very last page. Brilliant book!
review 2: I liked this book better than the first which says a lot because I really enjoyed the first. I was unsure about this one because I read the back cover and thought it would be a lot of unicor... moren stuff which isn't really my thing. I was wrong. It was easy to get into the story where it left off which I liked because sometimes there is a disconnect in between. I still liked Sophie and I think she is a great character but I was glad I got to know a few more of the main characters better, like Grady, Edaline, and Keefe. The mystery of the black swan intrigued me quite a bit and I read this book rather quickly which was upsetting because now I realize there is going to be another one, which is good, but now I have to wait for it! I hate waiting for books to come out, the good news is that this one was pretty good so I will most likely not have trouble remembering what happened. I will be reading the next one, hopefully it is as good as the first two. less
