review 1: This novella (falling between The Doll and The Catch) satisfies the author’s and her fans’ sense of order and completion. I liked it especially since it includes more of what first attracted me to Vanessa Michael Monroe in The Informationist. That is, her ability to gather and piece together information from a variety of sources. I don’t think that skill was quite as apparent in The Innocent and The Doll and I missed it; but still enjoyed those books. The Vessel highlights those information gathering skills and although the writing style seems more hurried, almost staccato, it was fun to follow Munroe’s story.
review 2: Some reviewers have suggested this as an introduction to the series--I disagree. The reader is way too close to the character, with so
... morelittle dialog and interaction that the writer seems to be telling a whole lot and not showing so much. But it is a terrifically plotted piece of work and will satisfy anyone reading the series as it fills in a lot between books 3 & 4. I would have given it a 5--as I have all of Stevens novels in this series, had there been more interaction. Still, if you are reading the series, you cannot afford to miss this. Again, brilliantly performed by Hillary Huber, who makes a good book even better! less

I liked how this wrapped up the loose ends of "The Doll". Very fast read!
