review 1: Still mourning his wife's death, fallen angel and private investigator of supernatural events, Remy Chandler, has been hired by a collector of antique weapons to recover five weapons of unimaginable power recently stolen from his collection. Remy shortly learns that others are also seeking these weapons, which if obtained first, could result in the freeing of Lucifer from Hell. I picked up this audio book, the second in a series, just to have something to listen to in the car. Although generally not my cup of tea I did enjoy the narration and Remy's Boston accent. I also enjoyed the voice given to Remy's pet, a black Labrador named Marlow. The interaction between the two of them was hilarious.
review 2: This book was far better than the first. The main reason ... moreI say this is that this book made it actually feel like a series. The first book had a clear solid ending, no loose ends. However, this one actually had some loose ends that I'm looking forward to seeing cleared up in the future. I'd also like to add that Thomas expands the Remy Chandler world even more in this book making it a very rich and pleasant read. Thomas has put so much thought into it that the world seems like it could actually be real.One final comment, I've been trying to figure out what series this reminds me of besides the Dresden Files, and I finally did: The Percy Jackson Series. You may think it's a stretch but I think that Remy Chandler is to the biblical world as Percy Jackson is to greek mythology.An all around awesome read! less
