review 1: The Seraphim known as Remiel now lives as Remy Chandler, a private investigator in Boston. He’s received a summons to visit the Sons of Adam who have taken care of Adam (yes, THE Adam) for millennia. He’s dying now and longs to see Eden again. In a bid to save itself, the Garden of Eden is returning once again to Earth and there are many parties interested in either opening the Gates or keeping them shut forever.Remy must discover the Key to the Gates, which is more complicated that he’d thought. There is treachery, redemption, action, and the greatest love wrapped up in this twisting and intriguing tale. A Hundred Words for Hate keeps you riveted to your seat and makes you think about the true nature of the universe (and yourself). A well-written and developed story... more with a great cast of characters. I think each book in this series is subsequently better than the previous installment. Mr. Sniegoski, please keep up the great work!Remy Chandler series: A Kiss Before the Apocalypse (1), Dancing on the Head of a Pin (2), Where Angels Fear to Tread (3), A Hundred Words for Hate (4), In the House of the Wicked (5)
review 2: I could barely finish the book and I think this is the last one I'll read in the series. The plot itself wasn't half bad, but I didn't like the execution. There were, like, ten plotline threads, cut together in an almost staccato rhythm. Sometimes the scenes were only half a page long, set in the present time or in the past, on Earth, in Hell or who-knows-where. In end result, the book felt fractured and all over the place. Also, I was getting slightly fed up with Remy's "woe is me, I'm a Seraph" attitude. What I did like was Izzy and Jon and the way they got stuck together in Eden, his "Not that I'm not flattered..." That was funny. less
