review 1: Also known as Bible of the Dead This is the sort of book that you either love it or hate itIt might be shocking if you are not prepared for certain parts of the book, I'm glad I read some comments about the book before I read it.What I loved about the book was the amount of history I did not know about Cambodia and Laos, also about the Human evolution.I read this book more slowly than usual, always with the laptop on so I could research on the internet what I was reading.This was the First book I read from Tom Knox and I loved it, can't wait to read more from him :)
review 2: This book is quite a trickster. It is masqueraded as an anthropological thriller, but about halfway in you realize it's a bigoted story about how you can only be good and love if you have ... morefaith in god and religion. And that atheism is basically a mental illness. Yeah. The author really needs to read about history as well because he is under the assumption that Hitler was an atheist. Um, he wasn't: “I believe today that I am acting in the sense of the AlmightyCreator. By warding off the Jews I am fighting for the Lord’s work.[Adolph Hitler, Speech, Reichstag, 1936]The only reason I finished reading this book was so that I could give it a low rating. What a disappointment. I guess I need to really research authors to make sure they aren't uneducated bigots before I read my next book. less
