review 1: I enjoyed this book so much! Phoebe Scott wants to be a famous actress on the stage, but after a few years, things haven't worked out the way she wanted. She realizes she's going need to get a protector who will help support her, as well as her younger sisters. She sets off in search of "The Devil" Devere to become her protector, instead, she meets his best friend, Sir Edward Chambers, otherwise known as Ned. Ned has been a widow for the last 3 years, and has somewhat removed himself from the land of the living. In a wild night's time, both of their lives are remarkably changed!
review 2: I'm not much for novellas, as I prefer a much deeper look into characters and whatnot, but for what it is, this suffices. The set-up for the series is well established, the
... more historical research is there... and oh my, there's plenty of steam *fans self* (perhaps a little much for some tastes - closer to erotica than romance, for sure) -- I'd probably give it a 3 1/2, but I rounded up, since I expect to revisit the series at some point less

Lots of fun to read. Fast paced and lots of action. I love the take-charge heroine. Fun to read.

I liked it, but it seemed a bit too short to thoroughly get to know the characters....
