review 1: Slightly inferior than the first two books of the series. It spends a lot of time wondering around, I found myself wishing it would get to the point a couple of times. Also, the translation didn't help, as it was translated to portuguese from english and the edition is terrible, a lot of ponctuation errors. But the story is very good and there's a great twist at the end. I like the Pora (Thora) character a lot and get very annoyed by her son Gylfi. On overall I like Yrsa Sigurðardóttir's writting style and this one is a nice book.
review 2: Reading a lot of Scandinavians and enjoying them all, but the male characters mostly run together after awhile. So lawyer Thora Gudmundsdottir is a nice surprise. Started with Book 3, now will go back to beginning. I s... moreuppose I relate to her more as a single, working mother - but I also like her wry, offhanded remarks, just like I'm listening to one of my clever friends. Interesting location, intricate plot, and an ending I did NOT see coming - all of which made this a hard-to-put-down, very satisfying read. less
