review 1: Il quarto capitolo della serie "Amare significa...", in tutta sincerità, è quello che mi ha coinvolta un pò meno. Paragonare le bellissime storie di Geoff e il suo Eli o,di Len e Cliff non è corretto, forse, ma non ho potuto farne a meno. Sapere che lo stesso Grey ama in particolar modo Geoff Laughton, mi ha fatto notare ancora di più la differenza tra i primi due titoli, con gli ultimi. Non voletemene, ma questo è il mio pensiero. Ognuna delle storie ha una trama toccante, degna del mio amato Andrew Grey e, "Amare significa...libertà" è interessante sotto alcuni punti di vista. C'è Preston, arrogante e presuntuoso, ricco figlio di papà che ha sempre avuto un pò la puzza sotto il naso, un ragazzo che dopo l'incidente in cui ha perso l'uso della gambe sembra peg... moregiorare caratterialmente. L'incontro con Stone cambierà totalmente il modo di porsi nei confronti della gente del giovane Preston. La storia è molto bella ma non so... mi è mancato quel tocco in più che solo Grey sa darmi in determinate circostanze. La parte riguardante un fatto drammatico, accaduto al giovane Stone ,avrebbe dovuto toccarmi nel profondo... invece no... Il personaggio di rilievo è sempre lui, Geoff, protagonista o meno lui è un uomo che, se prende a cuore una persona la tratta come uno di famiglia, è un uomo d'onore, un uomo che è stato cresciuto e amato da due padri che gli hanno insegnato a portare rispetto alle persone, e a prendersi cura dei più deboli, come Stone in questo caso, lo prenderà sotto la sua sua ala protettiva e farà sentire il ragazzo, finalmente a casa, dandogli quella famiglia che non ha mai avuto. Len e Cliff, anche se la loro storia è stata scritta dopo di "Amore significa...nessuna vergogna", ho avuto l'accortezza di leggerlo prima, quindi credetemi ho pianto, quando ho scoperto che la coppia era stata divisa da un male incurabile. L'amore che li ha visti insieme fino alla morte di Cliff, il coraggio di portare avanti la loro famiglia, il coraggio di non abbassarsi di fronte alle difficoltà, il non arrendersi mai. A tutto questo pensavo mentre leggevo dei due protagonisti, Stone e Preston che si, mi sono piaciuti, ma, un pizzico di drammaticità in più, per una volta non mi sarebbe dispiaciuta... Mi sbaglio? Probabilmente... Resta comunque un bel romanzo che consiglio, ovviamente.
review 2: This is my new favorite series from Andrew Grey's collection of books. Stone has been kick out of his house by his father after declaring that he is gay , after wandering around for month and being abandon on the road after hitchhiking , he shows at the door of the farm were they help him and offer him a job. Preston is arrogant, going through a difficult time after being put in a wheelchair by a drunk driver . Jasper , his good friend and therapist is trying to help him and suggests the farm riding program to help him. Immediately after starting he treats Stone badly and is almost kick out of the program but Stone tells Geoff that probably they can help Preston. Preston decides to apologize for what he said to Stone and they start a friendship. It is the only thing that makes sense to Preston because besides his mom and few friends he doesn't feel free. Same goes for Stone , more after he confesses his horrible past during the time before getting to the farm. There relationship is vastly different and changing. The love they are starting to feel is good, until Preston's father interference.Then all , indeed , changes. An almost tragedy is the only thing that makes them whole again and both need to confront their fears , the past and the people that hurt them the most not before confessing their real love for each other. That is when Freedom and love conquers all. Looking forward to more ... less
