review 1: Someone escapes from 19th century British jail in India and wrecks havoc on a group of soldiers. Poor young Lt. Narraway is assigned to defend a British soldier Corp. Tallis who is accused of aiding the escape and getaway!!!I did enjoy the book and am appreciating Anne Perry's Christmas novels more and more. This was a good mystery with a good twist of impersonations and deceit!!! Will read more.
review 2: This was a very intriguing read, a small volume, as her Christmas offerings usually are, but well written and sweet. Well...sweet might not be the correct word. It is a military court mystery and so there is a lot of darkness in the book, but it ended well and I was satisfied. I keep being drawn back to the British and India or Arabia for some reason. Not s... moreure what I need to learn about that, but I better keep trying. If you want a quick read that also offers a decent mystery, I recommend this novel. less
