review 1: This is the second book I've read by Jack Kilborn, immediately picking it up after 'The Screaming' because I was so impressed. Going back to the same author well is not something I normally do. I had also read some F. Paul Wilson, but the other authors in this collaboration were new to me. I will have to add them to my read list as I thoroughly enjoyed this reimaging of a well tapped storyline. I usually get frustrated with a story's narration switching with each chapter, but no frustration here. I especially enjoyed the attachment felt by the crafted character detail to the antagonists. A highly recommended page-turner for sure.
review 2: As much as I enjoy the work of Crouch and Kilborn (new to Strand and Wilson), this just wasn't up to the caliber I expect
... morefrom them. It seemed like it was just the same scene/scenarios presented over and over. I found myself wondering "When is this going to end?", which is NOT something I want from a book. I'm a person who compulsively checks how much I have left when I love a book, because I don't want it to be over. I'm not saying it was horrible, it just wasn't that good. less
