review 1: The Death on Demand series is classic. I've been reading this for quite some time, and I absolutely adore it. The characters are ones that I've grown to love, and the mystery is always so much fun! In this latest installment, the very young second wife of a wealthy resident disappears after a Fourth of July celebration. No one seems to be all that concerned about her disappearance, except for her stepdaughter. She visits Annie and Max (our loveable main characters) and asks for their help in solving the crime. They both oblige, and they discover more than they bargained for!This was a mystery reminiscent of some of the first books in this series. It was exciting and left me guessing until the very end. It showcased Annie and her mystery bookstore, dropping so many ... moretitles that I just have to read now! It brought me back to the darling (pun intended) relationship between Annie and Max, and it's always so much fun to read about Laurel, Max's mother. I just love her!While this is the twenty-third book in the series (wow!), it can be read as a standalone - and is so well worth your read!
review 2: A gorgeous woman disappears after a golf club dance and fireworks. She has broken up one marriage and has been running with another man during her new marriage. A third man has been taking pictures of her and her new lover at the local inn. Annie and Max are looking for her at the request of her step daughter. Then one of the serving staff at the golf club who Annie has interviewed is found in a shrimp net. Annie and Max continue to interview folks - the police have no evidence of foul play until Annie and Max finally bring in some evidence. less
