Death on Demand
review 1: "Intrigue and foul play are no strangers to the idyllic South Carolina sea island of Broward's Rock. Mystery bookstore owner Annie Darling and her husband, Max, who specialize in solving problems, plunge into a startling web of danger and deceit when a trio of deaths is linked to the island's youth recreation center."With the evidence mounting against her, the center's director seeks out Max to clear her name. When it comes to intrigue, where Max goes, Annie isn't far behind. To save an innocent woman, the pair scrambles to unravel three complex interlinked puzzles: the mystery of three guns, the pulled-out pant pockets of one victim, and the disappearance of a teenager whose stepfather always had the last laugh . . . until he died."~~back coverAs always, the opening chapt... moreer is vignettes previewing the mystery, from the point of view of several of the major players. They don't give the plot away, they're just teasers. But it's always fun to go back to them while you're reading, to see if they can help you figure it out before the end of the book.Another plot of Annie and Max embroiling themselves in a murder to prove to the local police chief that the person he thinks is the murderer isn't the murderer at all -- based on subtle hints and an anomaly or two. Of course Henny, Emma and Laurel throw themselves into the effort to save the person they all think is innocent.I didn't see this one coming, at all.
review 2: Another enjoyable read/listen. The mystery was interesting and the plot was pretty good. I both enjoy and get annoyed with the author's continual praising of other mystery books - it fits with Annie's character and career, of course, and while it's fun to get some suggestions (or enjoy my own thoughts about the ones mentioned), it's also a bit tedious as the information is presented in large chunks which I find cumbersome. That said, it's a good series, but not a great series. less

I have liked this series in the past, but this one seems particularly light weight.

Enjoyed it. Light Reading. I needed something light after reading Sing Me Home.

Cozy murder mysteries set out of a bookstore "Death On Demand."

It was just not my cup of tea. Too "cozy" for a thriller fan.
