review 1: I'm not crazy about the way that Hart begins her novels with introducing vignettes of characters that will make their appearance on the scene of the crime. That said, I usually spin through them quickly because I know I can go back and see what she said at a later time. It is tiresome, but so is the reference to all the mystery writers. I've often wondered if she reads that widely or if she getting weary of what she began for herself and for Annie Darling.However, as much as I could do without the gimmicks, Hart can spin a fun tale with colorful characters. Her books are well plotted and she has found a formula and setting that works well every time. They are lovely little diversions and fun to read.
review 2: I have always enjoyed Carolyn Hart's Death on Dem... moreand mystery series and Death Domes Silently was an especially good one. Her writing is tightly knit, her characters are fully formed. I love the setting of her mysteries. It is a pleasure to read about a tropical type island when you are a landlocked Yankee. Annie, her husband Max, her friends Emma and Henny strive to solve not one but two murders and prove the innocence of a former ex-con trying to make a new life. Annie's mother-in-law, Laurel and the town's mayor offer a bit of humor to spice up the tale. A great read! less
