review 1: I found this final installment in the series to be... disappointing. These books center around Sookie and her vampire friends and enemies. My problem with Dead Ever After -- Where are the vampires? Yes, I know how silly that sounds. But seriously, where are they? I've read the 12 previous books and they were filled with vampires, vampire groupies, and vampire haters. Now suddenly in the final book the vampires are almost nonexistent. Demons, fairies, shifters, and witches get more page time than the vamps. Heck, the menu descriptions get more page time.
review 2: After reading so many bad reviews and suffering through the last few books of the series, I steeled myself to finish what I'd started with a very low set bar. Probably a good way to start it.
... more The writing hasn't improved, she still can't figure out what a young southern girl like Sookie would wear or say, and the twists are ridiculous. But at the end of the day, I like Sookie and Jason and Sam and some of the others and I wanted to know what she would do to close it out. With all that said, I'm ok with the ending and glad I finished the series. less
