The Clockwork Century
review 1: The first true sequel to Boneshaker, about a surly sap-addicted orphan going into Seattle to maybe die or maybe seek his fortune, he isn't quite sure. He sobers up accidentally and is befriended by Seattle's other teens, the hyper genius Houjin and the kind and gentle Zeke, and they have boyish adventures that include exploring, blowing things up, and befriending animals. It is like a steampunk Walt Morey book. Like most of Cherie Priest's work, it is not as good as it could have been.
review 2: The fourth book in the Clockwork Century, was solid. Not my favorite in the collection as I had a bit of trouble warming up to Rector. But once I did, I enjoyed it.I suppose I didn't feel as sorry for him because of his drug use with the Sap, feeling he did it to hi
... moremself. But soon he showed he's redeemable and I warmed up to him. Cherie Priest did dive deeper into the world of Seattle and I love her skill of world building with the setting. Her words have a poetic feeling that grabs a hold of you and doesn't let go. Leaving me longing for a little bit more time in the poisoned walled city. less

Decent story, I like the world she's built, but not incredibly compelling.

Pretty good. Not as good as Boneshaker or Dreadnought.
