review 1: Chevy hooked me with "Still Missing" and has continued to keep me enamored with "Always Watching. " I wasn't sure at first which direction Nadine was headed and quickly realized that there were a lot of layers to this story. A successful Psychiatrist with a strange upbringing, years spent in a cult and estranged relationships with her only living family, a daughter and brother. Then while treating a very troubled patient all sorts of memories begin to imerge forcing her to examine some very dark events from the past. The cult leader Aaron was entirely too predictable from his interest in young girls to recruiting vulnerable individuals whom he could control. Overall a very enjoyable novel that has kept me up late to finish in 2 days but worth it.
review 2:
... moreDisappointing read..especially comparing it to the author's debut novel..STILL MISSING..which was a "can't put it down" page turner. I did not empathize or care much about Nadine or any of the characters who all seemed so one dimensional, with awkward dialogue. I did finish it because I wanted to find out what happened and hoped there would be a surprise at the end..anything to redeem the read! Not Ms. Stevens best!! less
