review 1: 3.5. While I enjoyed reading this and found myself wanting to know how it ended, I shouldn't have been so hasty. The ending was predictable and frustrating- it felt to me like the book was so focused on telling this wild (and pretty unbelievable) plot that it lost credibility and character development somewhere along the way. A real shame as this had a lot of potential. That said, the sections of writing during the abduction were very well written and very disconcerting.
review 2: Fantastic read. She didn't drag out plot points just to make the book "juicier," which only makes books like that feel longer and anti-climactic. And when a crucial plot point is revealed within the first half of the book and you still have the other half to go, you know you're in f
... moreor a wild ride. Stevens makes her main character believable in the sense that even tough girls can crack when involved in a situation as nightmarish as this, and you can understand how because you can put yourself in that character's shoes. Maybe the end result is a little over the top, but it's not unforgivable. It felt good to finally read a good book after the rash of crap I've been reading lately, so thank you, Ms. Stevens. I look forward to reading more books by Stevens (who you can tell just by her photo on the back cover is not your typical novelist - she's young, gorgeous, and looks as whip-smart as her character). less
